Happy Birthday Stampin’ Up!

Stampin’ Up! turned 30 this year and to celebrate, over 6,000 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world gathered together in Orlando for a huge party called OnStage Live!

My Silver Elite title earned me a day at Epcot Center.  I spent a lovely day at Epcot with these fellow Demonstrators and friends Tricia, Michelle and Joy.

Besides meeting with Stampin’ Up! friends, attending OnStage means FREE stuff!  Stampin’ Up! spoils us with lots of fun stamping goodies.  Here’s my show & tell video of the items we received.

Here is a photo of the note card I made in the video using the not yet released Amazing Life stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

Being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is so much fun with lots of benefits including life-long friendships, crafting opportunities, a great community and the ability to earn money doing something you love.  If you would like more information about joining Stampin’ Up! I would love to talk with you.  Email me at Leslie@theplaidpoodle.com today!

Labels to Love Tags

During my Facebook Live this week I spotlighted the Labels to Love Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

How versatile is this stamp set?!  It works all year long and coordinates with the Everyday Label Punch.  I love punches!  There’s no quicker way to cut out stamped images and punches are a quick and easy way to add interest and depth to your projects.

Here are a few of the tags I made using the stamp set and punch.

Once I got started making these tags I couldn’t stop.  I used the “give thanks” tag and created a napkin rings for our Thanksgiving table.  Then I made a Christmas tag full of whimsy using the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Of course using the Labels to Love stamp set to create tags is a given but the stamps make beautiful cards as well.

Here is the video from my Facebook Live where I demonstrate how I made the tags.  Below that is a list of all the products that were used to make these tags.  If I can answer any questions you have please feel free to email me at Leslie@theplaidpoodle.com

Cauldron Bubble Halloween Lanterns

I participated in a vendor fair this fall and one of the items at my booth were these cute Halloween Lanterns.

Aren’t they sweet?  I placed a small, cellophane bag with chocolate kisses inside the lanterns for gifting along with a flameless tealight candle.  When you remove the candy and insert the flameless candle the lanterns really glow!  I show the lanterns in action at the end of my video tutorial below.

This project is probably considered intermediate skill required but only because of the tools used and the folds required.  It really is a pretty simple and straight forward project to complete.  I’ve included the card stock dimensions along with a list of the products used to create these lanterns below.

Project Recipe

  • Basic Black card stock = 8-1/2″ x 6″ scored on the 8-1/2″ side at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″.  Score on the 6″ side at 1/4″, 7/8″, 1-1/2″ and 4-1/4″
  • Basic Black card stock = 6-1/2″ x 1/4″ (lantern handle)
  • Vellum = four pieces 2-1/2″ x 1-3/4″ each
  • Pumpkin Pie card stock = 7-1/2″ x 3-1/2″
  • Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper (witches hat and cat die-cut)
  • Whisper White card stock = scrap

Frights & Delights Paper Pumpkin

`The September Paper Pumpkin Kit from Stampin’ Up!, Frights & Delights, is so cute!  The kit comes with enough supplies and embellishments to make 24 treat bags. I didn’t need all 24 treat bags so I used products from the kit to make mini “Boo Baskets” and note cards.

The narrow note cards from Stampin’ Up! are the perfect size to slip a gift card into.  Perfect for all those special, bigger Trick-or-Treaters in your life!  Click on the links below to get a full-color PDF tutorial for both projects.

Spooky Sweets Treat Box

Halloween is literally the sweetest time of year and this delightful little box makes sharing all the sweets, treats and candy so much fun!  It’s ideal for classroom favors and all those special Trick-or-Treaters in your life.  My favorite thing about this project?  That itsy bitsy spider trinket!

The box itself is simple to make and requires just a couple basic tools.  Once the box is assembled, the limit is your imagination as to how you embellish it.  I kept it simple by using the Spooky Sweets stamp set and coordinating Spooky Bats Punch (when you purchase the two in a bundle there is a 10% savings).   Learn how to make this box by watching the video below.

Project Recipe:

  • Pumpkin Pie Cardstock =  8″ x 4″ scored at 1/2″, 1″, 3-1/2″, 4-1/2″, 7″ and 7-1/2″ on the 8″ side.  Scored at 1″ on both sides of the 4″ side.

Color Your Season

I can’t believe that it’s already that time, but it seems like we’re beginning to move from summer into fall here in Kansas City.  Families are getting ready for back-to-school and autumn decor is showing up on store shelves.  Soon we’ll be searching our wardrobes for something appropriate to wear for the season.

We’re all transitioning and that’s exactly what Stampin’ Up! did with the Blended Seasons Stamp Set and coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits!  Look at these four gorgeous cards that cover all four seasons using the bundle.

Because you can use it all year long and for so many different occasions, the Color Your Season collection is an excellent value!  It’s a set you’ll have forever and use over and over again.

This is a limited time promotion from Stampin’ Up! and products are available while supplies last until August 31, 2018.  This means products will only be available until August 31 or while supplies last, whichever comes first.

The stamp set and framelits can be purchased separately or as a bundle which saves 10%.  And, as an extra  bonus, August is Bonus Days which means that with every $50 purchase before tax and shipping you earn a $5 coupon to use during the month of September.  Click on the images below for more information or to purchase the Color Your Season products.

Lemon Zest Drink Mix Packet

I had the best time making this darling drink mix packet!  The colors in the Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade drink mix packaging inspired me to use the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper.

The packets would make great party favors or co-worker gifts, and it’s almost back-to-school time here in Kansas City, and these would be sweet gifts for teachers.  How could the vibrant colors and whimsy of this pretty favor not bring a smile and brighten someone’s day?

The project was quick and easy to make and would be a breeze to mass produce.  Here is my video tutorial and project recipe for the drink packets:

Project Recipe:

  • Melon Mambo card stock = 9″ x 2″ scored at 3″ and 3-1/2″ on the 9″ side
  • Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper = one piece 2″ x 3″, one piece 2″ x 5″
  • Whisper White card stock =  one piece 2″ x 11″ for lemons/leaves, one piece 2-1/4″ x 6″ for lime slices

The New Stampin’ Up! Color Collection

The 2018-2019 Annual Catalog and Idea Book from Stampin’ Up! is here with lots of awesome new products to help make our paper crafting projects more stunning than ever!  One of the things that I’m most excited about is the color revamp with the addition of brand-new, up-to-date colors.

Choice of color is significant in our paper crafting projects.  Colors can make us feel calm and sedate or, depending on what colors we work with, they can help us to feel joyful and enthusiastic, or tranquil and reflective.

The new colors from Stampin’ Up! are the freshest colors available.  They encourage confidence that my card making, scrapbooking and home decor projects are on-trend and I can gift them to my family and friends with confidence and pride.

Have a look then leave a comment below with a list of your favorites.

New Colors

In Color Collections

As always, the annual catalog brings in five new In-Colors and this year’s new In-Colors do not disappoint.

Core Color Collections

Stampin’ Up! has out done themselves by doing a complete color revamp this year and I’m thrilled to share with you the new Core Color Collections!   There are several new, never-seen before colors as well as a few returning favorites from the past.

I’m crazy over this color collection and can’t wait to start working with the coordinating papers, inks and embellishments!  The new Subtles collection makes me feel cool and calm and will create soft, serene cards perfect for wedding, baby, birthday, sympathy and shower cards or scrapbook pages.

The Brights Collection reminds me of summer and makes me feel happy, glad and cheerful.  They are bright and vibrant and will work great with florals.  The Regals Collection are stately and rich; lots of great colors for the autumn and winter holidays.  And did you notice that there is some color thrown into the Neutrals Collection?  Similar to black and white, colors like Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Merry Merlot are neutral enough to be paired with many colors.

Leave a comment below with a list of any colors that caught your eye and that you would like to see a project made with.  Check back here often for new projects made using these fantastic colors.

Embellished Spool

Customers who place an order with me during the month of April using Host Code 7FWD6RED will receive three lovely handmade cards plus three yards of beautiful ribbon.  I wanted to dress up the ribbon a little so they will receive it on a pretty embellished wooden spool.

For this spool of sparkly Bermuda Bay ribbon I used a scrap of paper from the Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack to wrap around the spool and then punched a couple circles from the DSP to cover the bottom and the top of the spool.  Multipurpose Liquid Glue worked great to adhere the DSP to the wooden spool

I had the lovely rhinestone flower embellishment in my stash of retired products and thought it worked perfectly for the vintage feel of the spool so I tied it onto the spool using a double length of Linen Thread.  To top it all off, I tied a knot with a length of Very Vanilla Lace Trim and adhered it to the spool with a Mini Glue Dot.

Product List

Other Products Used:

  • Wooden Spool
  • White Craft Paint
  • Retired floral embellishment

I would love to send an embellished spool to you!  Just place an online order of any amount with me using Host Code 7FWD6RED and I will mail the spool with ribbon along with three handmade cards to you.

Amazing You Card

I love that the hand made card I’m sharing with you today can be used for so many occasions.  Birthday, Graduation, Congratulations, Encouragement or simply a card to let someone know you are thinking of them and think they are pretty amazing!  This is the final week of Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-a-Bration promotion so I wanted to showcase the Amazing You stamp set and the Celebrate You Thinlit Dies before they go away for good on March 31, 2018.

I’m aching for warmer weather to arrive here in Kansas City and think it influenced my choice of ink colors.  The subtle Calypso Coral, Pool Party and So Saffron inks remind me of Springtime.  A great tip to adhering finely detailed die-cuts to your paper crafting projects without having liquid adhesive “smoosh out” is to use Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets.  The adhesive sheets turn anything into a sticker and make adhering tiny, detailed pieces of card stock a breeze! I used them to adhere the Amazing die-cut to the card front.

Because the final week of Sale-a-Bration coincides with my birthday week, I’m sending a FREE Mini Gable Box Kit to everyone who places a minimum $50 order with me using the Hostess Code YQ4K6AAQ.  This offer is valid starting Monday, March 26, 2018 and expires at midnight on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

Your kit will include everything you need to create this adorable mini gable box except the stamps and ink:

  • 1 Mini Gable Box
  • Designer Series Paper
  • Starburst Die-cut
  • Circle Die-cut

Heartfelt Blooms Thinking of You Card

This is such a pretty card with layers, bits of ribbon and sparkle!  The softness of the water color makes a sweet background for the intricate floral dies and the shimmery ribbon and gems add just enough dazzle.
If you want to step-up your paper crafting game, a die-cutting machine such as the Big Shot used to cut the floral dies from the Flourish Thinlits is a must.  Using the right tools and a few fun techniques make creating this fancy card a breeze.

When you place an order with me of $50 or more (before tax and shipping) using Hostess Code 3SDF7H9F before midnight tonight, Friday, February 23, 2018. I will send you a FREE pack of Clear Faceted Gems.  Place a $100 order and I will send you packages of both the Clear and Gold Faceted Gems.  This offer is my personal gift* to you and will be in addition to the FREE Sale-a-Bration gift(s) that your $50 or $100 order will qualify for with Stampin’ Up!  Read about the wonder that is Sale-a-Bration and view all the great stamp sets and other freebie choices by clicking on the brochure images below.
