How to Make a So Sentimental Thank You Card

The project I made for today’s post is a lovely, feminine card that would fit so many occasions!

The floral paper from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper Stack was my inspiration for the card. I pulled the Lovely Lipstick color from the paper to use for the card base, the embossed layer, the butterflies and even the rhinestones! I used a sentiment from the So Sentimental Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! Look at all the great occasions this stamp set would work for!

What was really fun was using the stamps along with the coordinating Stitched So Sweetly Dies. When you purchase the So Sentimental Bundle, the stamp set and dies, you save 10%! The dies fit perfectly over several of the stamped images creating pretty tags for cards and packages. I’m excited to use the stitched scallop rectangle dies on a project!

For the inside sentiment, I chose a stamp from the Little Ladybug stamp, a Host Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up! Isn’t it cute?

Make a Mini Valentine Chocolate Box

Every Monday I host a Make it Monday Facebook Live where I share a fun project that is not a card. This week I showed how to make this sweet miniature heart chocolate box. Make sure to follow me on Facebook here https://www.facebook.com/theplaidpoodle so that you don’t miss an episode.

I created this box last year using the Stitched Be Mine Dies that has a square box as its base. You can view the directions for this box HERE.

This year however, I saw a box that Angie over at Stamping with Amore created using a heart-shaped base and I knew I had to give it a try. I took Angie’s base design and pared it down to fit with the new Heart Punch Pack from Stampin’ Up!

These mini chocolate boxes are adorable and would make great little class favors and using a sheet from the From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper you can whip up 25 boxes in no time!

The project supplies and directions are here. To view the video tutorial hop on over to my Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/theplaidpoodle/videos/658627391341534/

Directions:

Real Red Cardstock = 6-1/8″ x 1-1/2″, two pieces 3″ x 3-1/2″ each, Whisper White Cardstock = 3″ x 3-1/2″ and From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper

The Most Wonderful Time

I always like to send a special thank you to my customers each month. This is the card they all received for placing orders with me during the month of October.

I used products from the Most Wonderful Time product medley from Stampin’ Up to make the card. If you’re an “all or nothing” kind of gal you would love this product medley! It includes stamps, dies, paper and accessories for creating cards and more. The deer on the cards are actually from one of the seven sticker sheets that come in the medley.

To create the oval-framed forest on the card, I cut an oval from a scrap of card stock and used it for a mask on the front of the notecard. I sponged the sky over the stencil, blending Gray Granite and Balmy Blue inks.

You’ll notice the rustic, jagged edge at the bottom of the oval. I tore a piece of scrap paper then adhered it to the back of the mask to create the rough, uneven edge. The tree image was stamped several times using Old Olive ink before removing the mask.

Then I stamped the sentiment onto the bottom right-hand side of the card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and placed the deer sticker from the medley onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I felt like the card needed just a little something when I was finished so I added the Soft Suede sequins. I really like how the card turned out.

Resist Emboss Technique with Rooted in Nature

As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator we get extra perks and one of those is the quarterly magazine, Stampin’ Success. In the most recent issue I discovered a beautiful card using the resist emboss technique and I wanted to share it with you.

I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set from Stampin’ Up! and recreated the card found in the magazine. This card has all the things; resist embossing, layers, texture and gold embossed die-cuts.

The resist emboss technique couldn’t be easier but takes your paper crafting projects up a level. Here is my video tutorial for the card and below that is a list of all the products I used in the video.

DIY Tropical Chic Gift Box

Some people like the mountains and some people like the desert. Both places have beautiful aspects but my happy place is anywhere that has palm trees.

If palm trees are nearby it’s a pretty safe bet that I can find a large body of water with a sandy beach. Warm breezes, waves splashing against the shore and sand between my toes is an anti-depressant to me. The Lord probably knew that if I lived in such a tropical place I would never accomplish anything so He stuck me right here in the land-locked middle!

Today’s project reminds me of my happy place and makes me want to sit poolside somewhere and sip a tall, fruity drink. Its a small gift box made using products from the Tropical Escape Suite from Stampin’ Up!

The box is a great size for small jewelry like a pair of earrings or necklace. It’s also roomy enough for some wrapped candy treats. I pulled colors from the Tropical Escape 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to make the box, tag and embellishments. Here is the video from my Facebook Live Coffee & a Card where we made the box.

Click on the pink button below for a full-color project sheet that includes the cutting and scoring template mentioned in the video tutorial.

Here are the products I used to make the box. Click on any image for more information about that product.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share a little bit about my happy place with you. I hope you enjoyed the project. If you have any questions or if I can help you with any of your stamping and paper crafting needs it would be my pleasure to help you.
